The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary’s congregation was founded in the year 1844 at Pondicherry by Rev.Fr. Louis Savinien Dupuis, MEP a French missionary. From the beginning, the congregation aims at liberating the illiterate womenfolk from various types of social injustice. We the sisters are deeply committed to the motto of the congregation “Sanctification and Empowerment of Women”, in the field of education. Initially the Congregation administered primary schools, Middle High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools. Apart from these schools, progressively it has started running Technical and Teacher Training Institutions, Community Colleges, Arts and Science Colleges, Engineering College, School of Nursing and College of Education. The prime objective of starting these institutions is to provide opportunities for women towards their social and economical self-reliance and their dignity thereby empowering their status in the society.

This college is a long cherished dream of the Diocese of Vellore. When the proposal of starting a college in Pudupalayam was made by the Diocese of Vellore, we, the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (FIHM) accepted it gladly. We have been working for the development of the womenfolk of this area, from 2004 with a humble beginning. The foundation stone was laid on 24th July 2004. The college building came up very beautifully within a year and the college was commenced on 30th July 2004 with 60 students. Every year the college is progressing to a great extent. Many more departments were started and the avenues are expanded for the development of women with competent and eligible faculty.
