The Department of Microbiology was Established in the year 2004. It was been providing Quality Education, to achieve outstanding result and secure first rank, make many rank holders in the university exams and to make students be employable in their society.
The department has well Qualified staff and offer B.Sc Programme in Microbiology. The Students of our department Periodically visit various science Institutes and get an enhanced knowledge about the recent research and Instruments.
The department has high tech laboratory. To nurture the students in lab skills.

Welcome to the department of microbiology at Idhaya college of arts and science for women, pudupalayam, Tiruvannamalai. The department of microbiology was established in the academic year 2004. The department is located in the first floor of the college building. Has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
FACULTY
The department boasts of a team of highly efficient and well qualified teaching faculty with fairly good experience in teaching and research.
SCOPE OF THE SUBJECT
Career opportunities are also aplenty for microbiology graduates in many core areas such as pharmaceutical, hospitals, analytical laboratories, fermentation industries, food and dairy industries, medical coding, clinical research, business (mushroom cultivation, vermitech,..etc.)
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
The department frequently organizes invited lectures from renowed experts and conducts seminar. The department also encourage the students to participate the seminar from other colleges.
FACILITIES / INFRASTRUCTURE
The department has separate well equipped laboratory. The department has all the necessary facilities required for modern-day teaching and major equipments such as light microscope, incubator, hot air oven, autoclave, centrifuge, colorimeters, freezers, laminar safety cabinets, digital precision balance etc.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS
Frequent industrial visits as part of the curricular are arranged for the students to have a glimpse of the role of microbiologists in various production facilities and to learn the nuances of production and quality aspects.

Our department student got university gold medal in 2012, we are proud to say, every year our department students are getting university ranks.
