ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of English was started in the year 2004. The students of our department have been successfully placed in abroad, secured various Government jobs, attained high positions in financial Institutions, and are serving as managers, college lectures and professionals in reputed multinational companies.
The aims of an English department are to develop strong communication skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), enhance language proficiency (grammar, vocabulary), and foster critical thinking and literary appreciation. Ultimately, the goal is to enable students to use English effectively in real-life situations, for academic purposes, and for creative expression.
Communication and Proficiency
- Develop language skills: Improve proficiency in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Improve communication: Enable students to communicate effectively and appropriately in various real-life situations, such as holding conversations, writing emails, or giving presentations.
- Enhance grammar and vocabulary: Increase knowledge of grammar, sentence structures, and vocabulary to use the language correctly and appropriately.
Critical Thinking and Appreciation
- Promote critical analysis: Encourage students to think critically, analyze texts, and express their opinions coherently.
- Develop creative skills: Foster imaginative and creative expression through writing, such as stories, poems, and essays.
- Appreciate literature: Develop an interest in and appreciation for literature and different cultures.
Academic and Practical Application
- Support academic learning: Enable students to use English effectively for study across different subjects.
- Encourage creativity: Provide opportunities for students to develop original thinking and their own writing style.
- Promote lifelong learning: Encourage an interest in continuous learning and the use of English for personal and professional growth.
The department regularly organizes Seminars, workshop, and Association activates to enrich students' knowledge. We are committed to helping students excel academically, produce Rank Holders, and prepare them for higher studies and career opportunities.

Our college is one of the best institutions in Thiruvannamalai district. We are having altogether Ten departments, It gives me immense pleasure to lead the department of English. English department strives hard towards the goal of providing innovative and quality education with high standard to achieve academic excellence in field of communication skills.
Apart from considering the poor educational background of our students, tests are conducted periodically and questions are framed in the pattern of university exams. The prime motive of our department is to provide quality education to our students. The process of learning English is extremely important in life, Why you learn, how you learn and where you learn play a crucial role in developing one intellectual capability.
The excellent infrastructure, teaching faculties of the best king ensuring quality education such as interacting among students, parents and staff to give better education to the students. For better communication we have ILM classes. It helps the students to speak English fluently. In our college library, enough books and periodicals are available for the student's reference.
The English department association "ARUNDHATHIROY" functions in our college to provide opportunities to the students to develop their talents in various fields and conducts seminars and workshops.
Our department aims at the higher quality of education for women irrespective of caste and creed with preferential option for the social minority. It strives at the growth of whole persons, academic excellence individual development of skills and character formation based on spiritual and moral values. Thus we are confident that our department will emerge as an asset not only to this institution but to the society.
